  Best mechanic I've ever been to. JR has the best price and the best service I've ever encountered (and with an old car, I've seen many mechanics). He makes sure you know exactly what is wrong with your car (explaining even the most complicated things if you're interested), what he thinks you absolutely need to do, and he tells you about things he thinks would be a good idea in the future but aren't absolutely necessary. As he says, his prices are competitive because he's out in the country and that's how he gets his business. This is a real shop. No fancy linoleum-floored lobby (overpriced mechanics always have one), but a metal folding chair and some friendly dogs to keep you company if you choose to wait. As I said, the price is right--his price for a tune-up was somewhere around $160; the other two or three places I called all said $220 or $250. And JR does it perfectly. I drive a half hour from Durham to come here and I will continue to do so for the length of my stay in the area.

  J R is and always has been a fair and honest mechanic. He's been working on my rickety old car for the past for years and always gives me a great price with a quick turnaround time. What is even better though is that he will sit down with you and step by step explain the work he did, even showing you the part that came out if he still has it around and explaining every cost if you'd like. He has revived my car many times and I will continue to bring it back for years to come.
